How De la Gente Coffee Has Used MoonClerk to Start and Grow Its Subscription Coffee Club

Andrew Feldman talks with us about his socially responsible nonprofit coffee company, De la Gente, and how he uses MoonClerk for the organization’s monthly coffee club as well as to accept donations.

Can you tell us a little about De La Gente?

De la Gente generates economic opportunity in coffee farming communities in Guatemala. We work alongside our partner cooperatives in commercializing coffee, operating community tourism trips, and providing technical assistance. Our ultimate goal is to enable communities to earn increased incomes that allow them to improve the quality of life for their families and communities.

What are your responsibilities at your company?

I’m the Executive Director so I’m responsible for the successful leadership, vision, and management of the organization. I oversee the work of our dedicated team, as well as managing financial planning and relationships with our key partners.

How did you get started with De la Gente?

I was drawn to the organization because of our innovative and comprehensive approach to improving the lives of coffee farmers and the close integration with the farming communities.

What do you use MoonClerk for?

We utilize MoonClerk for our recurring coffee orders and for our donations. Since we’re located in Guatemala and don’t have brick-and-mortar locations in the United States, we’re able to offer our customers the convenience of coffee delivered to their doors on a monthly basis. Recurring coffee orders help us forecast profits for the farmers, since all of the profits go directly to them. Recurring donations help us forecast donations in order to help facilitate our on-going programs.

Before MoonClerk, did you use another payment system?

We utilized a pretty large ecommerce system but it didn’t have the option to accept recurring payments or recurring donations. It was a prowerful program but it can be difficult for a non-programmer to use. We have found MoonClerk to be easy-to-use without compromising any functionality.

What made you decide to use MoonClerk?

We decided to use MoonClerk because of its ability to seamlessly integrate with our website on Squarespace and offer recurring coffee orders as well as donations.

What was your experience when switching and getting started with MoonClerk?

It was a simple process. The process to create forms is quick and easy. I like how I can also customize the form so it’s branded with De la Gente. There’s a lot of functionality built into the system.

What do you like about MoonClerk?

The integration with our website, the ability to brand the forms and ease of exporting information.

How has MoonClerk improved or helped your business?

We’re now better able to forecast sales as well as donations. For a small non-profit, these are keys to running an efficient and effective business.
