Julie Cody, Operations Manager at H20 Church, talks with us about how she’s seen an uptick in donations towards mission trips and a greater percentage of people pre-paying for events after her church started using MoonClerk to accept donations online.
Can you tell us a little about H20 Church?
H2O is a gospel-centered community whose mission is to see the college students, graduates, and professionals of Ohio State University and Columbus, Ohio become disciples of Jesus Christ who are equipped and prepared to influence their families, workplaces, and the world.
How did your church get its start?
Our church started when God brought a handful of people together with a common vision. We come from different backgrounds, have different stories and possess a wide range of gifts, personalities and interests. We started with a handful of Wolverines from Ann Arbor, added a group of Buckeyes, and God forged us into a team who are passionate about one simple thing: seeing the next generation of students and men and women in Columbus encounter Jesus Christ.
H2O launched its first service in the Fall of 2008. Since then we have seen God grow the church in amazing ways. Our vision is to be a church that impacts Ohio State and the city of Columbus in a significant way. We dream of the day when God would raise up a team of men and women who H2O could send to another college campus to plant a new church.
What do you use MoonClerk for?
We use MoonClerk to quickly and easily take payments and donations for a wide variety of events from retreats for Ohio State University students to service trips around the world.
Before MoonClerk, did you use another payment system?
Prior to MoonClerk, we were really only able to take cash and checks in person – nothing was done online. Adding MoonClerk into our everyday functioning as a church has freed us up to focus on the things we’re passionate about while helping us to remain organized.
What payment problems did you have before MoonClerk?
We began using MoonClerk because we needed a payment system that was efficient. Other systems we’ve used in the past were clunky and added to our workload at the end of every month. We weren’t able to easily differentiate between payments or designate a form for each event, and we had to collect money in person, which took a lot more time for everyone.
How did these problems affect you?
First, we had to track people down in-person to get payments for different events, a process that could take anywhere from a couple of days to months. Second, people who wanted to donate money had to send checks through the mail, which was often slow and confusing for them.
What made you decide to use MoonClerk?
We needed a payment system that was easy to use, customizable, and offered affordable rates in order to help our Finance Team quickly process payments into our accounting software.
What do you like about MoonClerk?
We like that we’re able to access and update our MoonClerk account remotely and instantly. As long as WiFi is available, we’re able to take payments. Plus, we can communicate information even more clearly with the ability to customize each form. Overall, MoonClerk has saved us hours of work and has allowed us to stay organized within the chaos of planning and implementing multiple events.
How has MoonClerk improved or helped your business?
Thanks to MoonClerk, as more people have gotten involved in events and have participated in mission trips, we have seen greater percentages of those people paying ahead of time. We have also seen more people donate toward mission trips, likely due to the ease of access and use of our MoonClerk forms.
