How Homes of Hope Uses MoonClerk To Raise Funds Online

Posted by Dodd Caldwell · Jan 28, 2014

Homes of Hope is a nonprofit organization located in Greenville, SC whose goal is to provide safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing for low-income and/or homeless families or individuals. But their goal is not just to rebuild houses. It’s also to rebuild lives. They also provide a men’s development program, which is a voluntary one-year residential job training and mentoring program for men overcoming drug and alcohol addictions.

Hear what Homes of Hope accounting assistant, Whitney Pendell, has to say about how she uses MoonClerk to help Homes of Hope manage their fundraising efforts.

In 2013, Homes of Hope decided to overhaul their website. In the process, they also decided to overhaul their online donation system so that it was flexible enough to allow them to accept donations and payments in other scenarios. In addition to using MoonClerk on their Give page, Home of Hope uses MoonClerk to collect entry fees for their annual golf tournament fundraiser. They also used QR codes at their annual banquet fundraiser to link to MoonClerk payment forms so that donors could make one-time and recurring payments straight from their smartphones

Homes of Hope accounting assistant, Whitney Pendell, says, “I really love MoonClerk. It has definitely made my life easier. We’ve used other systems in the past that have been really hard to use and hard to tell where the money is coming from. MoonClerk is so user friendly and we’re able to adjust it to fit whatever our needs may be – whether it’s sponsorships for an event or individual donations.”

Homes of Hope has decided to link to three separate MoonClerk payment forms from their Give page. One form is used for general donations, another form is used for honor and memorial gifts, and the third form is used for recurring donations for their Solid Rock giving club. Each form has been embedded into their site instead of linking out to the payment form.
