How Meridian Design Transitioned Away From Check-Based Collections Using MoonClerk

Steve Cassingham, cofounder of Meridian Design, talks with us about how he used MoonClerk to transitions his collections away from checks and improved his relationships with his customers at the same time.
Can you tell us a little about Meridian Design?
Meridian Design is a creative branding agency that focuses on effective aesthetics while delivering an incredible platform for keeping a business modern and relevant in today’s fast moving design market.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
I am responsible for business development and creative strategy. I develop the clients as well as create branding documents to guide designers and clients through the creative process. If the client wishes to have a video, I also direct and produce the video through my company, Metastyle Films.
How did you get started?
I started the company with my brother when we realized there was a gap between when I was delivering videos for Metastyle Films, and the effectiveness of the brand once they had a great video. We realized that people were placing the videos on their sites and the sites were extremely outdated. With a background in design, we found that we could design websites from scratch on two platforms; WordPress and Squarespace.
What have been some key factors in growing your business?
Some of the key factors to grow Meridian Design have been to not only create an incredible team around us, but to also always push ourselves to be better designers. We have built the company as an agency of talented freelancers in design, social media, and branding to compliment our talents. By creating a culture of creativity and freedom, we have fostered an environment where creatives can thrive.
What do you use MoonClerk for?
We use MoonClerk to collect payments from our clients. It makes the payment process much easier. Traditionally, in our industry, business is done with checks. Asking a client, “Can you send us the check?” is much more difficult to navigate than saying, “We placed a link for the down payment below!” This makes the process better for clients and keeps the relationship focused on the design and not on the money.
What made you decide to use MoonClerk?
I decided to use MoonClerk because of its integreation with Stripe and because of how much it improve our client relations. MoonClerks makes the payment process so easy to set up and with the ability for customizable forms, it can make the payment process personal too.

What do you like about MoonClerk?
I like that once I have made a form, I can use it as a template to bill any business. Using MoonClerk has definitely improved our relationship with our clients.
