How Wedgie Media Boosted Recurring Revenue By Thousands Of Dollars Per Week With MoonClerk

Ken Moskowitz, founder of Wedgie Media, talks with us about how switching from a manual billing process to MoonClerk allowed him to open his business up to a new sales platform and grow his recurring revenue to thousands of dollars per week.


Can you tell us a little about what Wedgie Media?

Wedgie Media is a brand building, advertising and production company. We help clients grow their brands. Our goal is to build brand awareness and desire in consumer’s minds for our clients, thereby bringing them new sales opportunities. We produce every asset our clients need, from websites, to brand identities, to video ads, to digital marketing, etc. We also produce TV shows and films for clients all over the world.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities?

I am the Chief Creatologist & CEO. My role is really twofold – to develop long-term and valuable client relationships and to make sure our team is performing at peak level with ninja-like precision.

How did you get started?

I was in the broadcast creative world my entire adult life. I’d been involved in countless brand launches, rebrands, etc. Throughout my career I’ve had the privilege of being a part of some storied and iconic brands.

In early 2010, I began to feel restless; I wanted something more. In December of that year, I had made the decision it was time to leave the safety and security of a big corporation and head out into the world on my own. With 5 kids to support, I had to do it right. There was no room for error.

I was blessed to have an amazing mentor and friend in Russ Hill, a man who has shaped me into the leader I am today. Without his guidance and continued council, I can’t say that I’d be where I am today.

When I founded Wedgie Media, I had a big challenge in front of me. How was the company going to make money? I had no clients, but I had ideas. I had a list of hundreds, if not thousands, of people I ‘d worked with, all of whom supported my leap. But we didn’t have anything signed.

I’d heard that M&M’s was looking for some creative for a campaign called My M&M’s and with my collaboration partner, Sean, I developed an ad for the iconic candy brand. Thinking we didn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of ever landing this project, we moved on. To our amazement and delight, we were selected by M&M’s for the project, beating out some pretty big guns in the creative world. Client number 1 was a big one. M&M’s isn’t a bad place to start.

Branding and rebranding is in our DNA. In fact, we recently went through our own rebrand, shedding our original Wedgie Creative name and logo. We must always evolve in order to grow and stay ahead of the competition.

What have been some key factors in your business’s growth?

We make clients happy, we make them look good, and we do what it takes to make them win. If we don’t over-deliver, we aren’t doing our job well.

What do you use MoonClerk for?

MoonClerk has become an invaluable tool for our recurring revenue streams. We have many clients who advertise with us on a monthly recurring basis. MoonClerk allows us to set their recurring billing up and forget about it. This eliminates some of the day-to-day accounting processes that we would otherwise have to do manually in the office. MoonClerk makes it easy to run our business. Like a Ronco product, you set MoonClerk and forget it. We recently launched a new website sales platform called Flatline. Flatline allows clients and businesses of every size to get a new website built for a simple down payment and a monthly recurring payment. With new clients signing up all the time, the human accounting model would become a challenging and potential error prone, cumbersome task. MoonClerk makes it as simple as a click. It even delivers the Terms of Service document at sign up. It couldn’t be any easier for us.

Before MoonClerk, did you use another payment system?

Before MoonClerk we were struggling to streamline the sales and recurring sales process Accounting tasks were difficult and time consuming because charges were all run manually. The dark ages of accounting were still upon us.

What made you decide to use MoonClerk?

Using MoonClerk was an easy decision for us. We looked at the ease of use and the simple fee structure. The reality is, it costs money to make money. Not being able to easily set up recurring transactions made running cards a pain in the neck for accounting and really opened us up for human error and liability. I don’t want credit card numbers laying around the office.

What was your experience when switching and getting started with MoonClerk?

MoonClerk is as easy as chewing gum. Setup took us just a few minutes and adding the recurring customers just a few more. In under 30 minutes, it was setup the way we needed it and we started using it on day 1. We’ve evolved our account and offerings since then, but we still use MoonClerk on an almost daily basis now.

What do you like about MoonClerk?

Setting up the recurring plans is intuitive and simple. You don’t need to be a programmer – no algorithms needed. You simply follow the steps, answer the questions, drop in the numbers, set the terms, and boom! You are ready to rock and roll.

How has MoonClerk improved or helped your business?

MoonClerk has increased productivity, decreased man-hours spent in accounting tasks, and boosted recurring sales dramatically. We process several thousands of dollars per week through MoonClerk and anticipate being able to process tens of thousands more in the coming months.

Any advice for others who are in similar industries?

Stop trying to do it manually. You’re killing yourself and losing money doing it. There’s a reason autonomous cars are here – they are more reliable, are less error-prone, and process data way more efficiently than hums do. Put your revenue streams on autopilot and focus on growth, not accounting processes.
