Christina Boyd-Smith, founder of The Corporate Rebel, talks with us about how MoonCler has helped her achieve 100% on-time payments for all her invoices.
Can you tell us a little about The Corporate Rebel?
The Corporate Rebel is a full-service coaching organization run by one spirited and no-nonsense Executive Coach (me!). I help individuals become powerful leaders, map careers, and make decisions. I help teams become efficient and effective, communicate clearly, and reduce stress and conflict. My work is a beautiful combination of deep inner reflection (Who are you?) and outward career and life strategy (How do you create your reality?). If you want something (a promotion, a new job, a clear next step, a more cohesive team, reduced conflict, improved relationships, greater inner peace), I ensure you get it. I am accredited by the International Coach Federation and teach at the highly rated destination spa, Rancho La Puerta. Oh, this isn’t part of my business per se, I also have a side hustle as The Vintage Concierge (Want a vintage item? I’ll find it for you!) and make an awesome peach pie.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
I’m laughing at this question because the answer is all the things. I am CEO and facilities. I’m the finance, quality, and customer service departments. I’m also the COO, CFO, CMO, owner, cleaning crew, and Executive Coach. I’m not IT. I outsource IT to my husband. Because I do everything, I need my systems to work flawlessly.
How did you get started?
I am a cliché corporate burnout story. I left my corporate compliance manager job to spend the summer with my children. I had no plan and trusted that something would emerge. A friend introduced me to coaching. I took one class, and my first client hired me from that class. I became a certified coach, pursued leadership development, and took many advanced trainings over the years. I followed what interested me, and my business grew organically until I few years in, I saw the culmination of everything I’ve ever been and done come together in the Corporate Rebel.
What have been some key factors in your organization’s growth?
I have long-standing and trusting relationships with individuals and corporations. My business is very personal. I am also an excellent coach, if I may say so myself, and I work with excellent clients who are as determined as I am to get what they want. My clients know that I am always looking out for how to make things easy for them and how to improve their lives and work. That includes the systems I use for logistics like scheduling and payments. Life is too short to be annoyed.
What do you use MoonClerk for?
I use MoonClerk to accept credit card payments for individual as well as corporate clients.
What problems did you have with you previous payment system?
Before MoonClerk, I received checks and experimented with another online system. Sending invoices is a manual process. It’s easy to miss one, or I had to send multiple reminders to finally get paid. The other online system required my clients to have an account which added an annoying step for clients to submit payments.
There is nothing I hate more as a customer than “fill out this form” when “filling out this form” requires me to set up an account, establish 2-factor authentication, have codes texted to my phone and still not be able to login and complete a 30-second task. I organize things in my business around what annoys me as a client. That’s why I love MoonClerk. It’s easy-peasy for everyone.
Chasing payments wasted my time. Since I am a solopreneur, my time and energy is precious. Instead of chasing paper, I’d rather spend time serving my clients, raising my children, and playing with my friends.

I appreciate that I receive notices of payments each month as well as reminders when a client plan is about to end. That serves as a trigger to chat with my client about extending our work. I don’t have to use my precious brain space to keep track of those things.
