Cecelia Lau, founder and director of London Tea Club, tells us how she she got started and how she uses MoonClerk to power the monthly billing for her subscription club.

Can you tell us a little about London Tea Club

London Tea Club is a monthly subscription service that delivers a bespoke selection of premium teas to members each month. We’re based in London and source our teas from around the world. Our goal is to help members discover the world of tea.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities?

I’m the founder and director of London Tea Club, so I do a bit of everything: operations, marketing, customer service and more. My favourite responsibilities are tea tasting, design/branding, and interacting with members on social media!

How did you get started?

London Tea Club started as a way to introduce people in London to the world of tea outside of the traditional English Breakfast. We sourced a handful of interesting teas to test the market, and after several months began shipping internationally as well. The majority of our members are still in the UK but there’s been a lot of interest from the US lately.

What have been some key factors in growing your business?

We began by reaching tea lovers and those curious about tea on both Facebook and Instagram. Tea is about slowing down and connecting with yourself and others, and social media allows us to promote this lifestyle through imagery, tea tips, brewing ideas, and beautiful teaware. We’ve also been lucky to have been featured in the press and several blogs since our launch last year. PR and social media are the biggest factors in growing our business.

What do you use MoonClerk for?

We use MoonClerk for our monthly billing, as well as our gift boxes, events and limited edition products.

What was your experience getting started with MoonClerk?

MoonClerk was incredibly easy to set up, and the customer service is fantastic. The company is always adding new features as well so the experience is constantly improving.

What do you like about MoonClerk?

I like the simplicity of the interface, and the fact that I can trust their team to respond quickly if there are ever any issues.

Any advice for others who are in similar industries?

For others starting subscription services, MoonClerk is an elegant and simple solution to the complexity of subscription billing.
